Ah, a painting. I wish I liked to paint regularly because you can get such interesting texture. Here's a link, Dad, if you want to check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jasper_Johns
i read the wikipedia link, and i thought it was interesting that johns was described as a neo-dadaist as well as a pop artist.
that made me think of a question i'v been meaning to ask you. i was having an art discussion with my roommate who is a tattoo artist/painter, in which he commented "as an artist, i think that stuff like duchamp's 'fountain' is the biggest insult to the work i do" i'm rather curious about your thoughts on this- might make a good upcoming post, maybe?
This is the blog I wrote the first time we lived in Beirut (2004-2007). Things blew up, people died, bombs were dropped, the government nearly collapsed, and I blogged about art. We took a two-year break from Beirut in St. Louis (USA). Now we're caught up to the present, and we're back in Beirut. Read all about it.

Cool flag, who is this guy, what is the flag made from, where is it displayed?
It's probably not, but it looks like brick.

good link, Kat. I don't have time to do another post today, but I'll do one soon with all the reasons I think this is a super-cool piece of art.
